Kindergarten in Norway-

As I continue my research in kindy pedagogy, I found this 8-minute documentary about two kindergarten teachers in Norway.

The differences compared to American kindergarten are staggering!

One interesting fact is that the Norwegians allow their kids to use knives and teach the children how to use them properly. I also found this in Korean schools— they allow even the youngest children to use sharp “adult” scissors. I remember always getting those crappy, dull plastic scissors as a kid (they never cut, always just bent the paper… grr).

Anyways, check it out! It’s only 8 minutes long and may inspire your next lesson plan.

EDIT: WOW! I found a video of one of the preschool kids carving wood with a knife! What a strange sight.
